Karin’s path to Designs by Karin began long before she ever considered furniture refinishing a career. Growing up in Oshawa, she was always creating, whether she was crafting, baking with her grandmother or refinishing her first cedar chest by hand.
Her professional life took her into pharmacy, hospital work and eventually a seventeen year career teaching pharmacy technicians. After moving to the Okanagan and working with Interior Health, Karin stepped away from her career to care for her parents and needed to find something she could build from home.
What began with a $25 nightstand grew into a thriving custom furniture refinishing business, a community of fellow creators and a return to the creative side that had always been part of her. Karin shares the care, patience and persistence behind transforming both furniture and an unexpected new chapter of life.
