Robin @bluepineapplestrongman and @bluepineapplebarber  grew up in Salmon Arm, but a love of travel and new experiences soon took him far beyond his hometown. After working at a plywood mill, he spent a year travelling through Australia and Southeast Asia before returning to Canada and eventually making his way to Kelowna.

His career path has been just as varied. Robin worked in construction and installed windows on high rises before turning a skill he had practiced since his teenage years into a career as a barber. He went on to compete in barber battles across Canada, using bold colours and creative designs to stand out from the competition.

More recently, Robin entered the world of competitive strongman. In only his second season, he won provincials and became Canada’s under 80 kilogram strongman champion, earning his professional card and invitations to compete internationally.

Robin shares how he built the discipline to keep training, what it takes to prepare for strongman competitions, the injuries and setbacks he has worked through and why the supportive community surrounding the sport has made the journey so meaningful.
