Kayla Mendel is the owner of Lavender and Grace Jewelry, a Kelowna based jewelry company known for delicate, dainty pieces and approachable price points.

Kayla shares her unique childhood story, from being born in the Caribbean, growing up in Edmonton, and spending two years living on a sailboat with her family. She talks about the adventure, the challenges, and the way that time shaped her view of the world.

She also opens up about moving to Kelowna as a teenager, her dad’s life changing mountain biking accident, and the major family changes that followed. Through it all, Kayla found her way into creativity, business, and eventually jewelry.

What started during a gap year as a personal creative outlet slowly grew into Lavender and Grace. Kayla talks about naming the brand, studying marketing at Okanagan College, growing the business through the pandemic, hiring her first employees, and eventually opening her downtown Kelowna store.
